Hope you had a good 4th of July weekend! Over the weekend, I went to a restaurant (Gilligan’s Pier) for dinner with a couple of family members. It was great, catching up and just taking in the beautiful environment we were in. What was surprising was that, even though I live in Maryland in a suburban area, unbeknownst to us we were getting ready to have dinner on the beach.
As we drove down a long corn field lined country road all of a sudden, we see a wide open area and there, right in front of our faces, is a large body of water, sand and palm trees and an amazing view that I’ve never seen before to go along with it. The restaurant created a manmade beach with sand and palm trees shipped in so that they could create the environment they wanted.
All this beauty 15 minutes down the road from where I live! You see, I’ve driven down the highway many times, but I’ve never ventured down any of the crossroads and here it was, this unexpected beauty.
Isn’t that how life is?
Everyday, we are given choices about which road to turn down and it’s totally up to us which turn we decide to take. At any moment, we can change the direction our lives are going in. We can start over and recreate our lives at any time if we choose. What is your vision for your life? What do you want to be when you grow up? We tend to only ask our children that question, but it holds true for adults too. What unfulfilled dreams do you have?
You may be like me in that you have had several of your dreams come true and reached many goals related to career and family, but now the kids are older, the marriage has died, you are experiencing career burnout or you are just tired of the same old thing. You are dying to do something different in your life. Well, what are you doing to change that situation? What choices have you been making to make your new dreams a reality? It’s never too late to be all that you are meant to be; not until you take your last breath!
I know for me the more risks I take and the more I’m growing, the bigger my vision for my life is becoming. Part of the new vision I have for my life involves taking my self-care to the next level in a massive way and tonight, I have my first appointment with the person that is going to support me in getting there! I’ll be updating you soon on who that is and what my new vision is but for now, I want you to start thinking about what your next big move is going to be. Don’t just dream about it, be about making a new life happen!
